Kawasaki Dealer Highlight

Dates confirmed for Motorcycle Live 2021

The UK's biggest motorcycle show, Motorcycle Live in association with Bikesure Insurance, plans to be back better than ever in 2021, with dates now confirmed as 4-12 December,  at the NEC, Birmingham.

To have the date confirmed in the midst of such uncertainty, underlines the show's commitment to returning to not only a physical show, but one where the halls of the NEC are brimming with entertainment, interaction, manufacturers, retailers and motorcycles of all shapes, ages, engine types and sizes.

The halls will house regular interactive features and displays along with brand new entertainment to give a full and fantastic day out to visitors.

With the pandemic having cast a cloud over the UK for so long, organisers are keen to give two wheel fans something to look forward to, whilst ensuring the event is safe for all.

By bringing together the very best of the industry under one roof, where people can interact face-to-face and see, touch, feel and hear, in person, rather than just digitally, will give a welcomed return to 'social'. And whilst biking brings many mental health benefits, meeting your friends and family, and sharing your passion will no doubt be a much-needed boost for many.

“We're excited to welcome visitors back to The NEC, for what is already shaping up to be a fantastic show.  To be able to offer something to look forward to will see us end the year on a high – where once again two wheel fans can be together to soak up the first major show in the UK for two years.  The 2021 event promises a real treat – something everyone deserves.” said Finlay McAllan, Managing Director of Motorcycle Live.

Tickets will go on sale later in the year.

Kawasaki Dealer Highlight – Clay Cross Kawasaki

Throughout 2021, we're going to be shining a light on our extensive Kawasaki dealer network, giving our followers an insight into their local dealership. This week, we caught up with Kawasaki's newest dealership, Clay Cross Kawasaki in Derbyshire, to find out a bit more about them…

KMUK: So, firstly, tell us a little a bit about Clay Cross Kawasaki?

CCK: “The dealership here at Clay Cross has been around for over 50 years in various aliases, but today it is part of the Global Moto group. We took over the premises in September of 2020 and immediately restored its name to Clay Cross Kawasaki. Since then, we have been busy transforming the dealership, improving our facilities and working on our marketing and social media. We're really proud of our showroom and have been working hard to create a true experience for visitors, incorporating visual graphics and areas to make it a destination for all bikers in the local area. Obviously, with the current rules, our showroom is a bit quiet, and we're really missing welcoming visitors!”

KMUK: You mention the current rules, how has the pandemic and lockdown affected you?
CCK: “As we only took over running Clay Cross Kawasaki in September, the current lockdown has certainly made things tough. However, although we aren't able to welcome bikers into our dealership, we've been incredibly busy with online orders and shipping bikes across the country. We have a fleet of vans which have been constantly busy, which is fantastic, and we've recently launched a new e-commerce website for parts called “Kawasaki Parts Online”. This means riders can get the parts they need delivered directly to their door, and we also launched a full e-commerce website, ensuring riders can go through the entire bike-buying process online!”

KMUK: Do you think e-commerce is going to become more important going forward?
CCK: “There will never be a replacement for actually getting to a dealership and seeing the new models up close, but being able to offer our customers a digital solution is definitely going to become more important. Our “Click. Buy. Deliver” campaign has been hugely successful, and has enabled our customers to carry on safely buying their new motorcycles without stepping foot outside their home. It's not only about e-commerce, though. Social media and digital content are also just as important. We have our own team of videographers filming content for us, allowing us to showcase our new and used bikes to our followers, helping to keep them engaged and building a community around the dealership.”

KMUK: What's been the best highlight since opening the dealership?
CCK: “Although Clay Cross Kawasaki has only been open a short time, our parent company has had a long and successful history with Kawasaki, particularly on the racing side of things with MSS Performance, so that's definitely a favourite memory. Personally though, for Clay Cross Kawasaki one of the best things is hearing the stories and memories from our customers. We've had so many riders come in with historical images and shots of their bikes dating back since the dealership first opened 50 years ago. We're trying to source some more archived content from over the years too, so stay tuned for that!”

Kawasaki Motors UK are supporting the #UnlockYourFreedom initiative that has been launched by the Motorcycle Industry Association (MCIA) to highlight the reasons why riding a scooter or motorcycle is a great alternative to stay isolated and safe.

Government advice states: ''Consider all other forms of transport before using public transport,” therefore increasing numbers of people are looking for reliable and quick modes of transport during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Motorcyclists across the world already know the benefits of two wheels - they're affordable, economical, fun and can help ease congestion. However, the list of advantages has been expanded even further now that being socially distanced is high on people's agendas. Now, choosing two-wheels is a safer alternative to public transport as it allows individuals to remain isolated and a safe distance from others outside of their households.

If you're 17 or over, you can ride a motorcycle or scooter up to 125cc or 11KW having completed your Compulsory Basic Training (CBT). Or if you're 16, you're able to ride a scooter up to 50cc without even passing a test, all you have to do is complete CBT which often takes as little as one day.

Find essential information about the licensing process at the #unlockyourfreedom website, and if you want to learn to ride with Kawasaki, don't forget to look at Kawasaki Rider Training Services - KRTS - for your motorcycle training needs.
