Six in a row for JR!

Kawasaki Racing Team's Jonathan Rea cemented his status as one of the all-time World Superbike greats over the weekend, securing his sixth consecutive title aboard the Kawasaki ZX-10RR.

Despite needing just three points, it was a tough start to the weekend for the star when he crashed during qualifying, leaving him starting the opening race back in 15th position on the grid. Showcasing his class, Rea sliced his way through the field to eventually finish in fourth place, seeing him secure the 2020 title in the process.

The newly crowned champ followed that up with a fifth in the Tissot Superpole race on Sunday before crashing out of podium contention in Race Two, although he was able to remount and finish 14th. It was a challenging weekend for team mate Alex Lowes, who was able to finish sixth in the opening race before scoring two DNFs in Sunday's races. Alongside winning the riders' Championship with Rea, Kawasaki also won the Manufacturers' Championship.

The final race of the World Supersport Championship was a successful weekend for Kawasaki, as Lucas Mahias and Philipp Öttl qualified on the front row before taking third and fourth respectively in the opening race. It was in the final race of the season, however, where Mahias was able to shine, taking his second win of the season. The World Supersport 300 class continued to see Kawasaki Ninja dominance as Kalinin, Perez and Ieraci made it a front row lockout.

The two races then saw all six podium positions secured by Kawasaki riders as Perez and Mueffels shared the wins whilst Booth-Amos and Di Sora also climbed the rostrum. MTM Kawasaki Motoport team rider Jeffrey Buis was eventually crowned series Champion.

This weekend also saw the final round of the 2020 Bennetts British Superbike Championship, as the series rolled into a cold and damp Brands Hatch circuit in Kent. Eager to complete the season in style, it was a challenging qualifying for the FS-3 Kawasaki duo of Lee Jackson and Danny Buchan, finishing 13th and 14th respectively.

Knowing they could achieve better in the three races, Danny stormed through in race one to eventually finish fifth with Lee just a few places behind in eighth. It was a similar story in Sunday's final two races, with Lee taking a fifth and ninth and Danny securing seventh and sixth.

In the Quattro Group British Supersport class, Ben Currie was able to round his season off in style with a front row in qualifying and a second place finish in the opening race whilst team mate James Westmoreland was able to secure third overall in the Championship standings.

Further success came in the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 class as Danny Kent powered his Morello Racing ZX-10RR to victory in a thrilling final race. However, the biggest success came in the Superstock 600 class, when Ben Luxton was able to secure the 2020 title following a tense victory in the opening race on Saturday afternoon.

Motorcycle Live goes Online

Starting with an initial, optimistic statement from the Motorcycle Live Organisation team back in April stating that they were hopeful the show would go ahead this year, we then heard the announcement in June that the show would not go ahead until 2021. The nine day show plays a huge part in our plans for the year and is something the Kawasaki team personally look forward to.

Knowing that there would be motorcycling fans around the UK missing their usual trip to the NEC, the organisers have decided to create a virtual event for you to enjoy! From 21st – 29th November 2020, bike fans can enjoy an array of unique content, see the latest bikes and enter exclusive competitions with Motorcycle Live Online. With a raft of dedicated content and videos in the making, 'show attendees' can expect their fix of biking in November as they always have.

Kawasaki Motors UK is proud to be supporting Motorcycle LiveOnline for 2020. Kawasaki's physical stand, which has regularly been voted as best in show by visitors, will be replaced with nine days of exclusive content across the Kawasaki social media channels and Club Kawasaki website.

The latest line-up of green machines will be taking centre stage, with a spotlight on the brand-new 2021 motorcycles. This will include the recently revealed Versys 1000 S which offers “the best of both worlds”forriders seeking 1000cc adventure style luxury with a traditional chassis layout. The Versys 1000 SE also receives an update for 2021, taking rider comfort to the next level with the addition of Showa Skyhook technology.

There are yet-more new models still to be unveiled – so watch this space for further announcements. Kawasaki will also be showcasing the flagship models that will remain in its extensive range for next year, spanning the supersports, touring, adventure, cruiser, modern classics, offroad and A2 categories.

Special guest features with a focus on Kawasaki's brilliant experience partners, such as The Kawasaki MX Experience powered by SevenSeven2MX, DragonMoto Tours, MX Try Out, Lee Dunham Racing, Steve Brogan Superbike School and Chiltern Young Riders.

The Team Green racing stars are set to get involved throughout the week, so expect the likes of 2020 World Superbike Champion Jonathan Rea, British Superbike riders Danny Buchan and Lee Jackson and Isle ofMan TT legend John McGuinness to pay a virtual visit.

Kawasaki Motors UK are supporting the #UnlockYourFreedom initiative that has been launched by the Motorcycle Industry Association (MCIA) to highlight the reasons why riding a scooter or motorcycle is a great alternative to stay isolated and safe.

Government advice states: ''Consider all other forms of transport before using public transport,” therefore increasing numbers of people are looking for reliable and quick modes of transport during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Motorcyclists across the world already know the benefits of two wheels - they're affordable, economical, fun and can help ease congestion. However, the list of advantages has been expanded even further now that being socially distanced is high on people's agendas. Now, choosing two-wheels is a safer alternative to public transport as it allows individuals to remain isolated and a safe distance from others outside of their households.

If you're 17 or over, you can ride a motorcycle or scooter up to 125cc or 11KW having completed your Compulsory Basic Training (CBT). Or if you're 16, you're able to ride a scooter up to 50cc without even passing a test, all you have to do is complete CBT which often takes as little as one day.

Find essential information about the licensing process at the #unlockyourfreedom website, and if you want to learn to ride with Kawasaki, don't forget to look at Kawasaki Rider Training Services - KRTS - for your motorcycle training needs.
